Nursing student blames pricey thefts on stress
A STRESSED-out nursing student was caught on camera stealing $1000-worth of purses and perfume from Myer in the Sunshine Plaza, but when confronted by police a week later she denied everything.
On Thursday, Krystn Maria Dawson pleaded guilty in Maroochydore Magistrates Court to stealing from the store in October 10 and 11.
The court heard staff reviewed security footage from both days after Dawson was seen on December 11 taking purses from a display and hiding them in shopping bags before leaving the store.
Duty lawyer Rachel Holland said her client could give no other excuse for her actions except that she was stressed while studying to become a nurse. Dawson was ordered to enter into a $1000 bond to be of good behaviour for one year.
