Margaret Olley Art Centre opens in the Tweed
TWEED residents, gallery donors, artists, and dignitaries from around the country gathered at the Tweed Regional Art Gallery on Saturday for the official opening of the Margaret Olley Art Centre.
For the event, Governor- General Quentin Bryce paid tribute with a nostalgic recollection of intimate moments with the artist.
After a private viewing of the recreated Olley studio Her Excellency was brought to tears.
"This is exactly as she would have wanted it," said Governor- General Bryce.
Local residents were in awe of the Governor-General's speech and beaming with pride that the national treasure dubbed 'Olleywood' will be housed in the beautiful Tweed Valley.
