Firefighters battle to contain Sunshine Coast bushfire

FIREFIGHTERS are battling to contain a bushfire that is burning on the Sunshine Coast.

The fire started in a paddock about 8.40am today but has spread to nearby bushland near Reserve Lane, Peachester.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service crews are fighting to contain the fire.

There is no threat to property at this stage.

Smoke may affect Peachester and surrounds, including Cove Road.

Residents are asked to close windows and doors. Motorists are advised to drive with caution and to conditions.

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call 000 immediately.
