Hairy man lets it grow for a good cause

CABARITA resident Mitch Beggs will tell you himself he has been blessed - or burdened, depending on how you look at it - with an abundance of body hair.

Mitch said he felt it his duty to grow a moustache for this year's Movember campaign.

After all, when you can produce the goods within three days, it's not really a struggle.

"I have been blessed with a thick layer of hair, so it is the least I can do, right, and it is a great cause," he said.

Mitch grew moustaches well before the creation of Movember, with a trip to Mexico the inspiration for one of his craziest lip-warmers.

"One particular moustache I grew went out past my ears," he said.

Tony West, from The Barber Shop in Kingscliff, said the use of a cut-throat razor, still popular with the older gentlemen in town, was now gathering momentum with Mitch's generation.

Movember is a charity event run each November, which sees men grow mos to raise funds and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer and mental health.
