Art community embraces Games spirit

LET the games begin.

It may not be the Olympics, but there's a mammoth effort in play to raise funds for the establishment of the Margaret Olley Art Centre.

The Friends of the Tweed River Art Gallery are hosting a games day on Tuesday July10 from 10am until 3pm at the Tweed River Art Gallery.

Guests are invited to bring along their favourite board games and a group of friends.

President of the Friends of the Gallery Lyn Stewart said a similar event was held in 2011.

"The guests had so much fun, they've asked us to hold another one this year," Ms Stewart said

"Throughout the day the Friends will cater to your needs with a delicious morning tea, delectable three course lunch and assorted alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

"There will be a fun raffle, lucky spot and lucky ticket prizes.

"Handmade craft goods, local produce and delicious homemade cakes and chutneys will also be for sale at our stall tables."

The Friends' fundraising efforts over the next 18 months will go towards the establishment of the centre.

"It's an exciting project that will have enormous benefit for the entire Tweed Shire," Ms Stewart said.

Tickets for Games Day are $30 each and bookings are essential.

Please phone Jo Nugent on 02 6672 3327 or Lyn Stewart 07 5524 8815 to secure your place.

Put a table of friends together for a great fun day out.
